John Clay has been named superintendent of the ductile iron pipe department at AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN).
Clay joined AMERICAN in 1982 as a process control engineer. He was appointed assistant superintendent of ductile iron pipe in 2000.
Clay holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the American Foundry Society and past chairman of the Birmingham chapter.
Founded in 1905, Birmingham-based AMERICAN is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry and electric-resistance steel pipe for the oil and natural gas industry. AMERICAN’s diversified product line also includes spiral-welded steel pipe and fire pumps.
