AMERICAN Joins Others in MLK Day of Service

AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company partnered with Hands On Birmingham to clean up around Lewis Elementary School as part of MLK Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 20, 2014. More than 50 volunteers raked leaves, planted and trimmed shrubbery, and completed other projects outside the school.

“This is what our founder John Eagan would want us to do. He would want us to get out in our communities and help others,” said AMERICAN Employee Assistance Coordinator Kendrick Clark, whose son Israel also helped work at the school.

Hands On Birmingham’s MLK Day of Service began 14 years ago. This year, an estimated 2,000 volunteers worked on 45 different projects across the Birmingham area.
