Barnhart Named Information Services Director at AMERICAN

John B. Barnhart has been named director of information services at AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN).

Barnhart joined AMERICAN in 1996 as a programmer analyst and was promoted to systems analyst in 1998. He was named assistant manager of information services over applications development in 2001 and manager of information services in 2008.

An alumnus of Auburn University, Barnhart received his bachelor’s degree in management information systems in 1995. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005. Barnhart is a member of the Society for Information Management, where he previously served as president of the Alabama chapter. In 2006, he received the INROADS Supervisor of the Year Award.

Founded in 1905, Birmingham-based AMERICAN is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry and electric-resistance steel pipe for the oil and natural gas industry. AMERICAN’s diversified product line also includes spiral-welded steel pipe and fire pumps.
